Just when you think that nothing you do as a Mom matters and that you have completely lost your mind somewhere in the changing of diapers, wiping of noses, and endless other thankless tasks of parenthood, you get just the gift you need. Brendan had this sheet as a homework page from the Catholic school he attends. At the top it says "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth" (Psalm 100:1). The instruction at the bottom says "In the box, draw a gift that gives you great joy". He drew the figure in the box and labeled it "Mom". Right back at you kid!
So, to encourage you moms out there, reflect on the words of Joseph Cardinal Mindszenty:
The Most Important Person on earth is a mother. She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral, a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby's body...The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God's creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can. What on God's earth is more glorious than this; to be a mother?
