Well, we didn’t raft often, but we logged many miles. In his enthusiasm for returning to the rivers, Karl took us on a 21 mile “float” on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. He kind of forgot how long river miles can be. It was a beautiful day, flat calm! That is not good when on a “float” trip as it means lots of rowing. Couple that with some afternoon canyon winds hampering your progress, and you have the makings for a disaster. However, everyone kept their positive attitudes and we made our destination before sun set.
