I started costumes in plenty of time, but had to scramble at the last minute. Thankfully, Granny Teresa was here to help me finish them up. Rita and Anthony decided early on to be a witch and a wizard, respectively. I found graduation gowns at the thrift store and altered them to fit. They turned out awesome.
Brendan was a different story. He simply couldn’t make up his mind. The rule for wearing costumes at the middle school was that it had to follow a theme set by the pod. Brendan’s pod was ancient history. So I asked him weeks in advance to decide if he was wearing a costume. Of course, he had to know if his friends were wearing one first. I advised him to find out so that I would have time to get it together for him. He waited until the day before Halloween to ask anyone and found out that all his friends were going to wear a costume. Grrrr. Didn’t help that I was completely sleep deprived at we were now 8 days into Paul’s hospitalization.
I agreed to take Brendan to the stores and have a look. Nothing. Our last ditch effort was the Good Will on the way home.
Well, we lucked out and Eric the Viking was born. This is Granny putting the last minute fixes on it.
