Granda's Girl

Since she was born we have seen the similarities in Rita to her paternal Grandfather's side of the family. From the tiny mouth that Karl's Mom said looks just like Granny Henshaw, to the gap in her two front teeth that Rita shares with Uncle Michael Henshaw and Granny Henshaw we have always seen the resemblance to that side of the family. Now that Rita is walking we see another resemblence to her Granda Brendan. She walks just like him, fast and sassy. We used to call Karl's Dad "Turbo Boots", now we have someone else to give the name to.

When we went camping last weekend she marched all over the place. On the last day we parked at the Glacier Transit Center and walked to Apgar Village, a 1/2 mile walk. We brought the stroller, which Rita refused to get into. She marched the whole way with no pause or complaint. He twin brother however is a bit different in his walking. Anthony howled for the entire 1/4 mile I made him walk, clinging to me and yelling "up up" the whole way. Occasionally he would stop to let out an earsplitting scream of rage. He doesn't seem to be a big fan of walking at this stage. When he finally was allowed to catch the stroller he threw himself into with wild abandon. Little Turbo Boots just kept marching right along side her big brother, the other Tubo Boots in the family.

Since Granda Brendan has been gone from us these past 6 years, it is great to catch glimpses of him in the kids. I think he is smiling from Heaven at them.
