I am a MWOM
It's happened again. I have turned my "nursery" into a kid room. The crib rails came off and the toddler rails went on today, turning the cribs into quasi toddler beds. One of the rocking chairs went down to the living room and toy drawers went into its place. Another lamp was added to provide light for the new play area and lastly, the monitor was removed, making me a "mother without monitor" or MWOM. I am somewhat proud that the twins are only two and a half and I initiated the giving up of the monitor. Brendan had passed his third birthday when Karl removed the monitor for me. That's when my friend, Tracy, and I started MWOM, because her son was almost four before her husband threw out the monitor. Their rationale for taking it away is that the kids can now walk and open the door if they need us. Our rationale for keeping our monitors is that giving them up lends a certain finality to the "babyhood" stage for us. The end and the beginning of wonderful new things.
