It's been twelve years since Karl has put a raft of his own in the water, not since I was pregnant with Brendan and we rafted the San Juan in Southern Utah. Just like his father, who gave up mountain climbing when he had a young family, Karl gave up rafting until now.
So we spent the day of July 6th on the North Fork of the Flathead River. Mostly calm water with a few riffles and small rapids to make the kids squeal, it made Karl put on his very happy face. That was a sight I was very happy to see. This water is a might bit colder than Southern Utah, so no temptation to swim!
Rita was happy to be up front on the "girl's end" of the boat and was not interested it trying the oars. The boys were all too happy to give it a try and I can tell Karl is excited to turn them into river rats.
